Pak onions rotting at Mumbai port

WHILE the entire India is pinning its hopes on the onions imported from Pakistan to rein in runaway prices, a consignment from Pakistan has been rotting at a Mumbai port, according to India Today. Nearly 180 tonne of onions is rotting at Navi Mumbais Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust as the consignment is yet to get the health ministrys clearance after its arrival about 10 days ago. So far, only two containers out of 25 have reached the wholesale markets. Ironically, almost the entire consignment has rotten and there are few takers among the traders.
