JHANG - Punjab government has provided Rs50 million for laying 5.5km-long sewage pipeline from Satellite Town to Railway Crossing on Jhang-Faisalabad Road, but the work is not being done as per defined standards.

It is reported that the heavy amounts are being misappropriated by the contractor with the help of some corrupt officials of Public Health Department. Expressing their grave concern over the laying of substandard pipes and use of substandard material in the construction and laying of sewage pipeline by the department, different public circles have demanded the high-ups of the department to take strict immediate notice into the matter.

It is worth mentioning that a sewage scheme is under construction along newly-constructed Darus-Sakina Road with the fund of Rs50 million, which not being done as per specified standards as crushed being used to fill half pipe depth is not as per specification grade and thickness.

It is reported that welded pipes are not jointed properly by specified rubber rings covering leakage, which is also damaging underground water. Manholes are constructed by low quality bricks & cement.

People further demanded DCO Shahid Niaz and high-ups of Public Health Department to take immediate notice to improve the condition of this project.
