JHANG - Jhang Police nabbed 198 proclaimed offenders during the month of December out of which 15 are involved in murder, dacoity, highway robbery and other cases of heinous nature.

DPO Rao Abdul Karim informed the media that during the same period, 28 court absconders and 25 deserters were also arrested. Two inter-district gangs, involved in murder, dacoity and highway robberies, were busted by the police, he added. He said that under Illegal Arms Possession Act, 107 cases were registered and the accused were arrested while two Kalashnikovs, 8 rifles, 24 guns, 75 pistols/revolvers, 5 carbines and 295 cartridges were also recovered from their possession.

The DPO further said that under Narcotics Act, total 80 cases were registered and 3.275 kg heroin, 5.544 kg charas and 1,529 bottle of liquor were recovered and six working stills were also seized.

The DPO said that the police had also recovered an amount of Rs8.73 million from culprits. He said that one Habat Khan Baloch, a notorious proclaimed offender and right-hand man of Ramzan allies Ramzani, was arrested by the police who are also trying to arrest other criminals including Ramazani on the information given by Habat.

Expressing his firm resolve, the DPO said that he was determined to clean the Police Department from black sheep, corrupt, negligent and inefficient officials. He claimed that nine corrupt and negligent officials including three Sub-Inspectors, two ASIs, one Head Constable and three Constables were suspended and cases were registered against them as one Sub Inspector Wali Muhammad was sent to jail.
