Meanwhile, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here at the Prime Minister’s House and discussed the current political situation in the country. The minister appreciated the speech of the Prime Minister that he delivered at the floor of the House the other day wherein he rejected the head of PML-N’s idea of setting up military courts in Karachi.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that talk of military courts was not in consonance with democratic norms when judiciary was working independently as an integral component of the democratic system.  The Prime Minister said that in the past, the Judiciary had already declared the military courts null and void and against the Constitution. ‘I was in a state of disbelief when I came to know of this assertion,’ he added. Earlier Anwer Saifullah Khan, Member of Provincial Assembly, also met Prime Minister Gilani at the PM House and discussed with Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani  issues relating to Labour Colony for which his family had donated a large chunk of land.

Saifullah also submitted proposals for resolving the issue of gas shortage in the country. He said that import of LNG offered a quick solution to the problem.

The Prime Minister thanked him for his suggestions and added that he would refer the same to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources for active consideration.
