NANKANA SAHIB - Rescue 1122 received 33,246 telephone calls from January 1 to December 31 last year, said the annual report issued here Wednesday.

According to the report, out of total calls 3,450 were related to emergency and the other calls include - information seeking calls 429, obnoxious/irrelevant 17,581, distorted/dropped 11,787, wrong 01 and 16 calls were fake.

The emergency calls include - RTA 1,543, fire 87, building collapse 19, explosions/bomb blast 01, crime (violence, bullet, injury, rubbery) 201, drowning case 21 and other medical emergency 1,578 as 575 patients were rescued, 3,364 hospitalised, 70 dead at incident site and 5 were expired 5 during the said period.

Rescue 1122 Incharge Dr Azam informed TheNation that several community awareness programmes were also carried out in different schools, colleges and public places to educate the students and common people that how they can tackle different emergency incidents. Factory owners, workers and staff are also being educated and trained regarding preventing measures during their work, he added. He assured that people feel free and comfortable to avail non-stop round the clock Rescue 1122 services any time. The Rescue’s services were appreciated by the different circles of traders, lawyers, political, religious and civil society, he added.
