LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif accompanied by his delegation called on the Turkish President Abdullah Gul in Ankara, on Wednesday and apprised him of the development on various projects between Punjab and Turkey including the solid waste management and BRT Transport System, said a handout issued here.

Speaking on that occasion, the Turkish President expressed pleasure that the relations between Pakistan and Turkey had virtually turned into a pragmatic economic cooperation. He said the involvement of Turkey in the solid waste management project was a glaring example of the beginning of that project.

Shahbaz informed the Turkish President that the construction of the southern phase of Lahore Ring Road would soon be negotiated with the AXIM Bank of Turkey for its financing. The CMr, expressing gratitude to the Turkish President, said his Lahore visit and personal interest played a vital role in the completion of ongoing projects between the Turkish government and Punjab. He said he was at the top of the list of those who had much liking for the Turk nation and its leadership.

The Turkish President, reacting to that, said Pakistan and its masses enjoyed such a worth in their hearts as was for none and assured that they would continue to exchange their experiences with Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Punjab also apprised the Turkish President of the development on the establishment of Pak-Turk Schools in Punjab.

The CM expressed satisfaction that the relationship with Turkey based on love, devotion and respect had been turned into an economic cooperation. At this, the Turkish President said Pakistan is extremely dear to them and especially he had much interest in Lahore. He said he would definitely visit Lahore as and when he got the opportunity to. Turkish President also gave a message based on well wishes for Nawaz Sharif.
