SADIQABAD

The users of automated teller machines (ATMs) especially the Benazir Income Support Programme beneficiaries are facing great ordeal due to out of order ATMs across Sadiqabad tehsil.

Besides the BISP beneficiaries, the bank customers are also facing problems regarding withdrawal of money as the banks have closed down their ATMs by placing notices carrying information about dysfunction of the machines. In Sadiqabad, about 3,500 flood-affected people were provided with Watan Cards. After every three months, the flood-hit beneficiaries have to visit the ATMs for withdrawal of their financial aid of Rs3,500. However, during these days, various banks keep their ATMs closed thereby causing great rush at the other functional machines. As a result, the donees especially senior citizens and females have to suffer jolts which also lead to skirmishes.

Sadiqabad Welfare Society President Muhammad Afzal demanded that the State Bank of Pakistan should direct all the banks and the authorities concerned to ensure full-time functionality of ATMs also during the period of withdrawing money by the beneficiaries. He also demanded deployment of security men at the ATMs and, a strict action against the banks which keep the facility dysfunctional during the particular period.
