Four members of a family were killed and a woman injured when a speeding bus hit two motorcycles here the other night.

Rescue sources said that a speeding passenger bus rammed into two motorcycles, carrying five persons on Mianwali-Muzaffargarh Road. Resultantly, four members of a family including two children were killed on the spot while a woman sustained serious wounds.

The bus driver responsible for the accident managed to escape from the scene along with the vehicle. The police registered a case against the unidentified driver.

In Mandi Bahauddin, 23-year-old Adeel Altaf, a resident of Chelianwala died after falling into Lower Jhelum Canal along with his motorcycle. On information, the rescuers reached the spot and recovered the motorcycle from the canal while search for the dead body continued till filing of this report.

Meanwhile, a man butchered his wife with a scythe. As per details, 18-year-old Zahida Bibi was married off to Azam, a resident of Ghanian, a suburban village of Phalia, about two months ago. The other night, he cut her throat with a scythe as result she died on the spot. The Phalia Police have registered case against the accused and moved the dead body to hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile in Hafizabad, two villagers were shot dead in two different incidents. According to police source, a landlord Nazar Muhammad Bhatti of Kot Muhabbat was on the way to his village and when he reached Pindi Bhattian Road, some of his rivals allegedly shot him dead. His son was also murdered by his rivals two years back.  The police have shifted the dead body to Pindi Bhattian Hospital for autopsy. Although, no accused has been named as yet, however, the police have registered a case and are investigating.

According to another report, an unidentified 60-year-old villager was shot dead near Chodhu Ahmad Yar by unidentified accused. After killing the deceased, the accused thrown the dead body in the nearby fields from where the police taken it into custody and shifted to THQ Hospital Pindi Bhattian for autopsy. The dead body has not yet been identified. The police are investigating.
