QUETTA At least four labourers were killed and six others received bullet injuries, apparently in an incident of target killing, in Soorab area of District Kalat district, 160 km southeast of Quetta, on Sunday. According to the police sources, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on a group of labourers working at a Gas Plant in Soorab near the PTCL. As a result, Mukhtiar, Jamal, Ishaq and Shabir died on the spot. while six others identified as Ahmed Abdul Fateh, Manzoor Ahmed, Khadim Hussein, Noor Hussain, Maqoob and Gulab were wounded in the attack. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Soorab. Meanwhile, the assailants managed to flee the scene after committing the crime. Apparently it is a case of target killing, a senior police official told The Nation on phone, adding that investigation was underway to ascertain the real motive behind the killings. Sources say the victims and the injured belonged to Punjab. Police have registered a case against unknown persons and launched a search operation in the area for their arrest. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has expressed sorrow and grief over the incident and directed district law enforcement agencies to capture the culprits at the earliest.
