OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Pakistan cricket team manager and National Cricket Academy (NCA) director Intikhab Alam said that the purpose of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Fast Track Coaching Programme was to polish the abilities of the national players and made them ready for the upcoming tours. Talking to media men here at the NCA on Monday, Intikhab said that before the national teams tour to any country, the coaches have not sufficient time to guide and train the players properly and individually, so in this regard, the PCB has organised such kinds of camps where the national players would be trained and polished properly and individually and will be given full attention by various coaches. He said that in the first phase, the camp of fast bowlers and openers was being organised under the supervision of Sarfraz Nawaz and Ijaz Ahmad as well as Mohsin Hassan khan was also watching the players performance while teams head coach Waqar Younis will join the camp on July 7. During the camp, the players will be guided how to use new balls during the match as now the ICC has allowed using new ball from both the pavilions during its meetings in Hong Kong, he added. In the second phase, the camp of spin bowlers, all-rounders and middle order batsmen would be held under the supervision of Abdul Qadir along with other coaches. These camps would be organised throughout the year which would provide a lot of opportunities to the players to overcome their weaknesses and to train well under the guidance of experienced coaches, Intikhab further said. Intikhab revealed that as many as 23 players reported in the camp and they were delivered lectures on anti-doping, anti-corruption, how to behave in and outside the field and on other important issues. On a question, Intikhab replied that new rules and regulations of the ICC would not be harmful for Pakistan as we were guiding the players about these things in these camps purpose of which was purely to guide them about how to cope with these problems which they usually face in the fields. In the camps, the players are being trained well and told how to use new balls and to guide the team to victory through superb bowling while on the other hand, the openers too are being guided how to face news balls in a better way and to play long innings to create a huge total for their team, Intikhab said. The players would be monitored during the camp and all the things would be recorded so that their mistakes would be overcome and their abilities would be polished, Intikhab concluded.
