OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Istiqlal Party chief Syed Manzoor Ali Gilani says there is no need for midterm polls and that he sees no possibility of their being held. Speaking at Aiwan-i-Waqt on Monday, he said instead of taking the MQM along, Mian Nawaz Sharif should form an alliance with parties in the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM). Gilani said plan to dislodge the government was not a positive thinking. He proposed that opposition parties should formulate a national agenda for the next elections. Answering a question, the Istiqlal Party chief said no single party could be held responsible for the prevailing situation. Instead, he said, all parties that were part of the federal and the provincial governments were responsible for the situation. He recalled that at APC in London the participants had decided not to enter into political agreements with the MQM as it was a 'terrorist organization. He regretted that Mian Nawaz Sharif had forgotten the agreement and had started fresh efforts to take the MQM along in a broader alliance.
