Multan - The Punjab government has released funds worth about Rs3.95 billion for the completion of different ongoing development projects of Multan. This was disclosed by the Commissioner Multan Muhammad Khurram Agha while chairing a meeting to review the pace of work on Prime Minister Package projects. He further revealed that the government had released Rs1 billion for 11 sewerage projects, Rs2.60 billion for the widening of Old Shujabad Road, Rs250 million for Nag Shah Chowk bypass and Rs100 million for Northern Bypass. Addressing the meeting, he issued deadlines for the completion of different ongoing projects and directed concerned authorities to ensure completion of one service road of Chungi No-8 flyover till July 15. He observed that the city was cut into two sides because of delay in construction of Chungi No-8 flyover. He said that the students, patients, traders and passers-by were faced with severe hardships because of traffic jams taking place around Chungi No-8 area. He asked the concerned officials to ensure completion of the road till July 15 so that the traffic burden on Ghanta Ghar could be relieved. He said that the Northern bypass would be opened to the traffic from July 10 and asked the contractors to accomplish construction of Vehari Road loop of Double Phattak flyover till August 14, bus stand loop of Chowk Kumharanwala flyover September 30 and Head Muhammadwala bridge October 15. He directed the project directors of all development projects to beautify roads and the spaces beneath flyovers by establishing green belts with the collaboration of Multan Horticulture Authority. He said that the timely accomplishment of all projects was his first priority and he would personally visit the sites to achieve this goal. While briefing the commissioner on progress on different projects, the project directors told that 45 percent construction of Chowk Kumharanwala level-11 flyover was done while Chungi No-8 flyover was 80 percent complete. They added that the construction of Double Phatak flyover was 70pc done, Nag Shah flyover 30 percent, Vehari Chowk to Bahawalpur Chowk road 80 percent and Head Muhammadwala bridge 80 percent done. It was also told at the meeting that 77 percent land acquiring for Multan-Khanewal Motorway was done while seven out of 11 roads were constructed under PM Package.
