Week-long traffic rules awareness drive opens

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Citys Traffic Police on Monday launched a week-long awareness drive across the provincial capital to educate the citizenry about the traffic rules. The Traffic Wardens, following directives from Chief Traffic Officer Syed Ahmed Mubeen, displayed banners on all the main roads of the City to educate the public about traffic discipline. Circle In-Charges and Wardens, during the first day of the drive, distributed 110,000 pamphlets inscribed with traffic rules, including the Zebra Crossing, use of helmet, lights and signals, overloading and wheeling. The Wardens also offered gifts, flowers and CDs of traffic laws to the motorists. On the occasion, CTO Syed Ahmed Mubeen directed the Wardens to avoid ticketing except when some severe violations of traffic laws were committed. He also urged the citizens to abide by the laws for their own and others safety.
