LAHORE - The Controller General Accounts Farah Ayyub has announced to form an Inquiry Committee in the lead of Director General Admin Syed Mubarak to investigate the alleged corruption of millions of rupees by the recently transferred AG Punjab Zahid Rashid.
According to official sources, the committee will start working from July 7. They said that there are allegations that Zahid Rasheed made payment of Rs92.5 million to a fake company namely National Engineering. However, the new AG Punjab Syed Zafar Mehdi stopped this payment.
Meanwhile, the Auditor general Pakistan Akhtar Buland Rana, following some clashes at AG Office on June 27, had suspended the two officials including deputy accountant general and additional accountant general. However, the Controller General Accounts Farah Ayyub has reinstated both of them, setting aside the earlier decision of auditor general Pakistan.
Farah Ayyub also directed the Accountant General Punjab that earlier order of officers’ dismissal has no authenticity, as they are under the Controller General Accounts.
