ISLAMABAD : Owing to the two days hot weather forecast by the Met Department, the Ministry of Water and Power has advised the electricity consumers across the country to adopt electricity conservation measures and specially minimise usage of air conditioners to avoid forced loadshedding due to increase in demand. The weather has been forecast as severe hot for next 48 hours in most parts of the country due to which the electricity consumption is also expected to rise.

It is important to note that the power sector is already generating record electricity and is managing the demand and supply gap by loadshedding schedule of 6hr Urban, 8 hrs rural and 8 hrs industrial. During Sehar, Iftar and Tarawee timings most parts of the country are being exempted from loadshedding.

Excessive use of air conditioners can rise the demand for electricity specially at the time of Iftar, Tarawee and Seheri timings.

The Ministry of Water and Power has also issued special directions to the Distribution Companies to form special teams for quick response in case of local faults. The DISCOs have also been directed to reinforce their complaint addressal.
