ISLAMABAD - National Security Advisor Dr Moeed Yusuf on Sunday revealed that the initial investigation into the recent terrorist blast in Lahore provided concrete evidence of Indian involvement in terrorist activities in Pakistan.
Dr Moeed Yousaf was stated this while addressing a joint news conference with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and Punjab Police Inspector General Inam Ghani in Islamabad.
“The mastermind and handlers of the blast have been identified through forensic analysis of the electronic equipment recovered from the terrorists involved in the incident,” Dr Moeed Yousaf said. “We have absolutely no doubt that the main mastermind of the blast is an Indian national, who belongs to the Indian intelligence agency RAW.”
Appreciating Pakistani agencies effective role in apprehending the culprits involved in the Lahore blast, Dr Moeed Yusuf said right after the incident, thousands of attempts of cyber-attacks against Pakistan’s critical investigation structure were made to deflect attention of our police and security agencies to avoid apprehension. He said, “Our cyber security is strong enough that we were able to thwart these attempts.”
The Advisor said Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed his team to use all possible legal and political means to get to the people outside Pakistan, who are part of this international terrorist network. “We will share all information with international community and expose the nefarious designs and real of face of the state in our neighbourhood that is constantly sponsoring terrorism against our innocent civilians.
The investigation into last month’s Johar Town Lahore blast concluded that the attack was orchestrated by the Indian intelligence agency; Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and the mastermind was an Indian citizen associated with it.
During the press conference, conversation between the terrorists on telephone was also released.
“Evidence gathered during the investigation of the blast in Lahore’s Johar Town last month clearly points to Indian-sponsored terrorism,” National Security Adviser Dr Moeed Yusuf said.
On June 23, a powerful bomb blast near the residence of Jamaat ud Dawa chief, Hafiz Saeed in Johar Town killed three people and injured 24 others, including a police constable. The explosion had left a four-foot-deep and eight-foot-wide crater on the road and damaged several houses and shops nearby.
Yusuf said Pakistan had been repeatedly saying that India was involved in terrorism against Pakistan.
He told the media that one of the primary suspects who executed the attack, Eid Gul, was originally from Afghanistan and had lived in Pakistan. He said the “direct origin” of the money through which the attack was financed was from India. “Money was sent through third countries… now time has come to pay attention to real criminals,” he said. He said Pakistan has been repeatedly saying that Afghan refugees are our brothers and sisters but the time has come for their dignified return adding while a big Afghan refugee population was peaceful, the actions of a few hiding among them brought disrepute to all refugees.
“I want to make sure our message is heard clearly that in this particular incident, we have concrete evidence and intelligence that point to direct Indian sponsorship of these terrorists,” he said. He said the investigators have identified the main mastermind and the handlers of this terrorist attack and they have no doubt that the main mastermind belongs to RAW, lives in India and is an Indian citizen.
Sharing details of the investigations, Moeed said Pakistan had identified the main mastermind and the handlers through forensic analysis, electronic equipment which has been recovered from these terrorists. We have identified the main mastermind and the handlers of this terrorist attack and we have absolutely no doubt or reservation in informing that the main mastermind is associated with RAW, is an Indian national and is based in India, Moeed said and added the government had the fakes names, real identities and location of the suspects because of efficient coordination between different agencies.
The Security Advisor further said that the India “drama” of drone attack in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was an attempt to divert attention from the Lahore attack. “I would also like to point out that there has been a whole drama about some mysterious drones flying here and there in IIOJK. What was the logic is now very clear and again with confidence we can put it out that was deflection tactic trying to divert attention of the world from the fact and they knew at that time we have not only apprehended culprits but we knew exactly what it had been done behind the scene and who was behind it,” he added.
He further said that India had been using territory and people of ‘third countries’ to carry out terrorist attacks in Pakistan. “Pakistan will bring this international network in public view and India’s real face will be exposed, as we have done before,” he said further.
Sharing details of the incident and the information that surfaced in the police investigation so far, Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani said the funding for carrying out the attack came from abroad. “We have identified the person who was delegated the task to carry out the reconnaissance and execute the attack,” he said, identifying the suspect as Eid Gul. He took the car from Peter and did a dry run in Lahore, he added, referring to another suspect. A day after the blast, law-enforcement agencies had arrested Peter Paul David after off-loading him from a Karachi-bound flight. He was said to be the owner of the car used in the blast. According to details shared by Ghani, a suspect named Ziaullah provided financing for the car to Peter, who handed over the car to Gul. Gul was tasked to execute the attack by an unidentified person, Ghani told the media.
