LAHORE PML-N Coordinator and Women Wing President of Union Council No 13, Memona Bibi, along with her bodyguard and a passer-by was gunned down over old enmity at Railway Crossing No. 5, in Badamibagh police area on Saturday afternoon, polices and eyewitnesses said. About three other passers-by also suffered multiple bullet injuries in the incident. The deceased were identified as Memona Bibi, 35, wife of an imprisoned former forest officer Malik Noor, her gunman Ashfaq Hussain, 45, and a shoe-dealer boy Awais, 16. The injured were identified as Faqeer Hussain Bhatti, 45, Shahid, 34, and Kabeer, 22. Police claimed that about five to six accused were involved in this heinous act of crime while according to some eyewitnesses, only one shooter executed the entire episode and later fled from the scene. However, sources privy to the development believed Asif Bhinder, brother of former additional Advocate General Chaudhry Arif Bhinder, and Akbar Bhinder, father of Arif Bhinder, along with four accomplices were involved in the recent triple murder. It may be worth mentioning here on January 12, 2007, some eight people including Chaudhry Arif Bhinder and his brother and former TMO Ferozewala Kashif Bhinder were shot dead at Waris Road near Sir Ganga Ram Hospital when he was on his way to office. According to the accounts of a few eyewitnesses, Memona along with Ashfaq was on her way to home towards 32-Chowk, Ravi Road, while riding a double cabin Toyota (IDT-4681) but when they stopped on aforementioned Railway Crossing, which was shut down prior to a train, two unidentified bike riders approached the site. The man driving the motorbike fled from the scene after dropping his accomplice, who opened a Triple II rifle and sprayed straight bullets on Memona and Ashfaq at about 4:00pm, a driver of a Shahzoor Cabin Zahid, and friend of the deceased Awais said. The witnesses said the incident took hardly three minutes. Later, the shooter entered a street and managed to escape before the police reached the spot. A heavy contingent of police along with Rescue 1122 officials and Edhi Ambulances reached the site and shifted the victims to the Emergency Ward of Mayo Hospital where the doctors pronounced Memona, Ashfaq and Awais dead while the condition of others injured was also stated to be critical.
