LAHORE Speakers at a meeting have stressed upon the Punjab govt to give poor friendly budget and improve law and order situation in the province. Speaking at provincial executive committee meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan here on Saturday, the office bearers said that the federal government has already put additional burden on the poor by withdrawing subsidy worth Rs 229 billion and now it was responsibility of the provincial administration to give relief. President JUP Javaid Awan chaired the meeting. Secretary General Qari Zawar Bahadar and Ch Muhammad Yaqoob were the special guests. The speakers urged the government to hold local bodies elections and reduce prices of essential commodities before Ramadan. They also stressed upon giving economic and administrative autonomy to election commission for ensuring free and fair polls.
