Shutterdown strike against clean-up drive

OUR STAFF REPORTER DASKA - Hundreds of traders and shopkeepers went on shutter down strike and staged a sit-in at Kutchery Chowk against the announcement to demolish another old market of Daska within next couple of days by declaring it encroachments. Holding banners and placards, they chanted anti-government slogans. Shopkeepers Haji Saeed Butt, Tehseen Butt, Khawaja Fiaz and others said themore than 60 shops were in the map since the creation of Pakistan. They said that now the district administration had declared them as encroachment and announced demolish the ancient market. They termed the campaign highhandedness of district administration expressed sympathy with the shopkeepers. They also observed hunger strike on Saturday. President Daska Bar Association Muhammad Asif Bajwa Advocate, PML-N leader Advocate Shehzad Ahmed Dhilloun, Daska Bar former president Malik Muhammad Jamil, local traders, political figures and journalists also attended the protest camp. They expressed grave concern over this nasty situation and urged the Punjab chief minister Gujranwala Division Commissioner Saeed Wahla to take serious notice of this situation and save these shops from demolition.
