TDAP urged to ensure participation in Brazil moot

ISLAMABAD - Arif Rafiq, Vice Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Trade Fairs, Exhibitions, met Tariq Iqbal Puri, Chief Executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), in Islamabad and appreciated efforts of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in the presence of Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, President FPCCI and Vice President of Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Hameed Akhtar Chadda, Chairman FPCCI Capital Office Islamabad, and Sohail Hussain Malik, says a Press release. Arif Rafiq expressed business community demands for expansion of trade and export activities by participating in trade fairs with Brazil, Chile, Peru, Lithuania, Uzbekistan. He said that House & Gift Fair South America is the largest fair in Brazil and fifth largest in its sector in the world which is being held in Sao Paulo from 27 to 30 August2011. Last year 52 countries participated with 1300 companies and displayed their products spread over 7 halls and 67000 sqm. Pakistans participation under the umbrella of TDAP was held in International Hall with eight companies. Pakistani products were appreciated/demanded and orders were placed in millions of rupees. Our competitors like India and China participated with 86 and 267companies respectively. Number of exhibitors from these countries and others are increasing every year which shows improvement and positive sign of business activities in this region. TDAP should ensure participation in this important fair in textiles, handicrafts, furniture, cutlery, domestic utensils, handicrafts, electronic appliances, decoration items, wooden handicrafts, gift items related sectors with maximum participation. He also highlighted the importance of participation in Chile, Peru, Lithuania, Uzbekistans leading trade fairs where Pakistan needs to enter with full strength which is only possible with the support of TDAP in these regions.
