Traders stage protest

Our Staff Reporter OKARA - The traders observed a shut down strike in response to operation launched by the district and tehsil administrations against land grabbers and encroachers following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. As per detail, the traders in response to the operation launched a shutter down strike, came on the streets, and burnt tyres on the roads, blocking MA Jinnah Road for hours. While addressing the protesters, Central Anjuman-e-Tajiran President Chaudhry Salim Sadiq, and General Secretary Malik Qadir Hussain said that notices had been issued to the traders and they were removing the encroachments themselves, and that no highhandedness of administration would be tolerated in this regard. They further told that they would not hesitate to launch indefinite strikes if the administration continued to be adamant. Additional Collector Tehsil Municipal Administrator Zaheer Abbas Malik, Assistant Commissioner Asif Rauf, TMO Imran Asghar Sindhu, TOTNC Javaid Gondal, Chief Officer Mohammad Akram Saqi, and Traffic Inspector Khalid Mehmood Naz led a grand operation against encroachments on MA Jinnah Road. Zaheer Abbas Malik said that the operation would continue without any discrimination and no relaxation would be given to anyone in case of delay. He further mentioned that lands worth millions of rupees have been recovered in the operation.
