KARACHI  - Three policemen were suspended over torturing a thirteen-year-old seminary student in Gulberg locality on Tuesday.
According to victim’s family, Muhammad Ali was on his way to home from a nearby shop along with his friends when three policemen Muhammad Fateh, Mazhar Ali and Ali Ashar caught him and took him away at the Gulberg police station where they badly tortured him.
The family said that as victim’s friends informed the family, they immediately reached the police station but policemen refused to hand him over. After taking bribe of Rs10,000, they handed him over to the family in unconscious condition. The family later took him away and staged a protest outside the Governor House.
Following the protest, the governor took notice of the incident and ordered to register a case and arrest the policemen. DSP Altaf Hussain said that an FIR No 105/13 under Sections 342/34, 327 F/1 and 504 of Pakistan Penal Code was registered against the policemen and one of them Fateh was arrested while remaining two managed to escape.
The investigation was underway.
