Junior squash trials conclude


ISLAMABAD - Syed Ali Bukhari, Tayyab Aslam, Ammad Fareed and Bilal Zakir booked their berths for the World Junior Squash Team Championship bound squad after finishing as the toppers in trial matches which concluded here at Mushaf Ali Mir Squash Complex on Tuesday.
Ali Bukhari played eight matches and won seven and lost one. Tayyab and Ammad also won seven matches each and lost one match each while Bilal Zakir played eight, won four and lost four, Israr Ahmed also played eight, won four and lost four.
The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) could have utilized this precious time wasted on worthless and totally unwanted trial matches on arranging a senior team camp as the senior team championship is starting from June 9 in France while the junior event is starting from July 16 and the same group of players emerged from trial matches who had represented the country in the Asian Junior Team Championship and won gold medal for Pakistan beating archrivals India in the final.
In the last day of trial matches, Israr Ahmed beat Kashif Asif 3-0, Asim Khan beat Salman Hashmi 3-2, Bilal Zakir beat Safiullah Kakar 3-0, Ali Bukhari beat Tayyab Aslam 3-2, Salman Hashmi beat Kashif Asif 3-0, Tayyab Aslam beat Bilal Zakir 3-0, and Ammad Fareed beat Ali Bukhari 3-2.
