LAHORE -  The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over a petition seeking disqualification of PML-N MPA Arif Mehmood Gill for having a fake degree. The court passed the orders on the petition moved by Abid Hussain Ghazi.

The petitioner submitted that Arif Mehmood Gill was elected MPA from PP-59, Faisalabad, in 2013 elections.  He contended that the respondent did not qualify the criteria set in Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution as the MPA used fake degree for the elections.

He requested the court to disqualify the respondent MPA.

After recording initial arguments, the court issued notice to the ECP and sought reply within two weeks.
