Punjab athletes win the first day events


LAHORE - The Punjab girls athletics team on it's first day appearance performed brilliantly in the Pakistan Sports Board-organised Inter-provincial U-16 Athletics Championship.
The opening ceremony of the SBP's Inter-provincial U-14 boys and U-16 girls athletics championship was held here on Tuesday at Punjab Stadium. DG Sports Punjab Dr M Salah Tahir was the chief guest who appreciated the will power and stamina of the enthusiastic players.  In the 100m race, Javeria Kiran of Punjab grabbed first, Afeera Naz of Punjab second while Habiba Khurshid of Sindh got third. In the 800m, Martha Ghafoor of Punjab won first, Zenab Khan of Punjab second and Muqaddas of KPK third.
In the javelin throw, Fatima of Punjab grabbed first position, Sidra of KPK achieved second and Bibi Aisha of KPK took third.
In u-16 boys athletics championship 1500 meters race, Amir Abdullah of Punjab snatched first, Abdullah Tahir of Punjab secured second and Ali Asghar of Balochistan got third position. In javelin throw, Punjab's Hamza Jameel won first, KPK's Khyam Khan second whereas M Inam of Fata achieved the third position. The boys and girls competitions of shotput, high jump and 200 meters will be held at morning while 200 meters and long jump events of girls and boys will be held at 6 pm at same venue today (Wednesday).
