Lahore- Besides privatisation of four railcars running between Lahore and Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Railways is outsourcing the Bolan Mail train service, which connects Quetta and Karachi.

The Railways GM has hinted that public-private partnership policy would go ahead in coming days, adding, however, it depends on new government’s policy.  The PRACS, a subsidiary of the Railways, was expected to run railcars on public-private partnership from next month while the different investors had shown interest in Bolan Mail’s outsourcing, said the GM while talking to a local TV here on Tuesday.  Railways is currently running 152 locomotives and eight to 10 among them are dedicated for freight sector.  The General Manager said the department would purchase 58 engines from China till next year, adding the National Logistic Cell (NLC) would add 10 Korean locomotives in freight sector soon.

“The agreement with NLC is being finalised,” he held.

Junaid Qureshi said that Business Train had to pay Rs350 million to Railways. “The management of the Business Train is bound to pay the dues in monthly regular instalments after June as per the ECC decision,” he added.
