The seniority factor was used by many in the PTI to get party tickets for the elections. One of the reasons for the setback suffered by the PTI may be the selection of candidates on the basis of seniority instead of merit. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, seniority is now being used to get portfolios in the cabinet. While seniority should be respected, it has very little value against academic qualification, relevant experience, integrity, selflessness and vision. The new parliamentarians of the PTI are advised to uphold merit, as their future will depend entirely on their performance. The new chief minister of KPK should be very careful since the party’s performance in KPK will determine its future.MIR MURTAZA HUSSAIN, Lahore, May 31.
