Like many other people, I strongly believe that socio-economic decline in rural areas has been caused by the present ruling elite and their incompetent, insensitive blue-eyed boys who are placed at the helm of affairs. Nothing has flourished, but kidnapping for ransom, tribal killings, organized crime and corruption. The Chief Minister Sindh’s home district, Khairpur, has become a stronghold for dacoits. More than 30 kidnappings for ransom were reported within two months in this ill-fated district, where social and economic activities have ceased. All the upper and lower region districts have become an open field for dacoits, thieves, thugs and criminals. This sordid state of affairs has deepened disparity, despondence and disruption in the province.
