SHIKARPUR - The Thul police have foiled a bid for illegal marriage of a 10-year-old girl with a 60-year-old man in district Jacobabad on Saturday.
Acting on the information, the police conducted raid at an ongoing marriage ceremony in village Naseer Samejo near tehsil Thul, within the jurisdiction of B-Section Police Station.
It arrested groom namely Karam Ali Pahore, 60, and rescued minor would-be bride Gulzadi Pahore as well as some event participants.
Nikah Khawan Ameenullah Pahore and the father of the bride escaped from the scene, taking advantage of crowed. Police stopped an attempt of illegal marriage.
The girl said her parents had taken Rs0.4 million from groom Karamullah Pahore for wedding, therefore wedding has been planned at village Naseer Sameejo. The arrested groom has also confessed that he paid Rs0.4 million for marriage to bride’s father namely Gul Hassan Pahore. An FIR was registered with the B-Section police station against the culprits involved.
On the other hand, a youth identified as Bahadur Lashari, 28, resident of village Jan Muhammad Lashari, died after falling down from a speeding tractor trolley at Indus Highway on Saturday.
The body was later handed over to the relatives after an autopsy from the Rural Health Centre, Dakhan. Moreover, a youth identified as Sajjad Mahar, 30, resident of village Mir Muhammad Mahar, district Shikarpur electrocuted when he touched an electric wire at his home on Saturday. Later, he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.
In a separate incident, a young milk seller was killed near Dargah Bhudhal Fakir over an old enmity between the two groups of Shar and Kehar tribesmen within the jurisdiction of Sultan Kot Police Station here the other day.
According to SHO Sultan Kot, Imtiaz Ahmed Chaki, a young milk seller identified as Abdul Rahim was busy selling milk when six persons riding three motorcycles opened indiscriminate firing on him. Rahim, 35, was killed on the spot while the assailants fled from the scene. The area police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to district headquarters hospital for postmortem and other formalities. Later, it was handed over to the relatives after postmortem examination. Neither an FIR was registered nor any assailant was arrested till this story was filed.
Meanwhile, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Nasir Aftab Khattak has been transferred. He has been directed to report to the Central Police Office (CPO) Sindh Karachi. SSP Kashmore-Kandhkot Umar Tufail has been posted as a SSP Shikarpur said a notification issued by the office of the Inspector General of Police.
Moreover, the Kanpur Police claimed to have killed a notorious dacoit in an encounter took place at Rahimabad link road near village Ghulam Ali Unar here the other day.
Station House Officer (SHO) Khanpur Police Station, Ayub Dogar claimed to have killed a notorious dacoit identified as Ali Gohar Phulpoto, a resident of tehsil Kingri of district Khairpur Mirs. During routine patrolling, police saw that three unidentified armed men were standing at link road. On seeing the police, they opened fire. In retaliation, one dacoit was killed while his two other accomplices escaped from the scene.
The killed dacoit was identified as Ali Gohar Phulpoto. Police claimed that he was involved in various heinous cases including murders, road robberies and others. Cases were registered against him with many police stations of district Khairpur Mirs including Ahmed Pur, Tando Masti, B-Section police station and others, he claimed. The body was later handed over to his brother namely Abdullah Phulpoto after an autopsy from Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Khanpur.
Abdullah Phulpoto told the journalists that police have done a fake encounter because his brother was arrested from Qazi Ahmed Town from a passenger coach, a few days back. To a question, he said, “Deceased Ali Gohar was not a dacoit but some cases were registered against him because we have personal enmity with our relatives and some others.”
An FIR of police encounter was registered against the killed dacoit and two other unidentified armed men with the Khanpur police station on the complaint of SHO Ayub Dogar on behalf of the state. Further police investigation is underway.
