LAHORE- Newly elected secretary Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) Muqtidar Akhtar Shabbir renewed the pledge that the bar would participate in the long-march and sit-in with full force to ensure the restoration of deposed judges. Addressing a press conference at the LHCBA premises, he said that as the lawyers had achieved the goal of restoration of democracy and ouster of dictator Musharraf and similarly the deposed chief justice and other judges would be reinstated. He also condemned the governor rule and said the lawyers would resist every unconstitutional step of the govt. He informed that a member of the LHCBA has moved a petition before the LHC against the governor rule. When asked why did they approach the PCO judges for the redress of their grievances and that if the governor rule gets legitimacy in case the matter was decided in favour of the Rule, Muqtadir replied that they also wanted to test the PCO judges' approach with respect to supporting democracy or going against it. The petitioner governor rule Zahid Malik advocate and his counsel Dr Farooq Hassan also spoke and termed this promulgation hit by article 6 of the Constitution.
