I read in yesterday's The Nation about Quaid's portrait in Aiwan-e-Sadar. I was very shocked and hurt. Quaid-e-Azam is the Father of the Nation and his portrait should be in every office and home as long as Pakistan is on the map of the earth. I think his portrait must have been removed by the lowly staff of Aiwan-e-Sadar and the President must be very busy to notice. Otherwise, he would have definitely taken some action. We all know how much the President loves our Quaid, surely as much as all Pakistanis do. In the same paper, I also saw a picture of our President having meetings with our PM and COAS. Lo and behold, I notice only two large pictures of Benazir Bhutto and one of the President himself on the wall. I may be wrong but this is for the first time that the photo of an incumbent President has been put up in the Presidency. I would request Col. Jafry to correct me if I am wrong. Presidents come and go and their pictures are put in the cold storage once they are gone. Men like Quaid live forever. -COL (Retd) R.M. AKHTAR, Lahore, February 28.
