LAHORE – Refuting the allegation of receiving any funds from the ISI, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said the propaganda “is a crude attempt to tarnish the JI’s image”.

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Sunday, he clarified that while the relevant document had mentioned the name of a former Sindh Chief Minister Liaqat Jatoi, anchor persons of some TV channels were wrongly naming Liaqat Baloch. He said the JI had already issued a contradiction in this respect but some media men were intentionally making propaganda against the JI.

Liaqat Baloch said it was unfortunate that although the media had solid evidence against an organization of Karachi involved in extortion, yet the media men remained tight lipped about its threats and even apologized to that. He impressed upon the media high ups to issue contradictions about the false allegations being leveled by the anchor persons.

He said that the JI had already moved a bill in the National Assembly for curtailing the secret agencies’ role so that these did not interfere in politics.
