Sources said that the suspected militants were abductors and coming to Peshawar from Khyber Agency when a police party intercepted their vehicle. However, they made their escape from the scene while opening fires at the police. This led to intense exchange of fire that ended in the result of killing of two kidnapers, while another, critically injured, was arrested.

According to the police, the abductors were wanted to police in several cases and they were coming to Peshawar from adjacent Khyber Agency. The police have also recovered automatic weapons from their possession.
