The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to Interior Minister Rehman Malik, PPP senator-elect Dr Babar Awan and former president Pervez Musharraf on a petition regarding the murder of Benazir Bhutto

The petition seeks lodging second FIR of the 2007 assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.

The court was informed that notices could not be served to Babar Awan, Rehman Malik and Pervez Musharraf.

The bench ruled that notice be displayed outside Musharraf’s residence in Pakistan with a warning that some other cases were also being heard in the country.

The court was told that Rehman Malik’s counsel Anwar Manoor was abroad.

Punjab Police argued that second FIR could not be lodged into Benazir murder as challan was submitted to the court. The police contended that petitioner Aslam Chaudhry was not an affected party in the case.
