The issue of missing people has not been given its due importance. One must give credit to the Supreme Court for properly raising it and pulling up officials of the intelligence agencies. Recently the intelligence agencies acting on the orders of the Supreme Court produced seven of the eleven missing persons and also informed the apex court about the acts of terror they had been involved in. The court was not happy especially since their physical condition and health was not good. Meanwhile our political parties found an opportunity to point a finger of accusation on the government and the army. Unfortunately, there was usual blame game rather than a serious moot on how to introduce laws that could clip the wings of agencies and particularly deter them from arbitrarily picking up ordinary citizens. This is the area where legal work possibly legislation by expert lawmakers needs to be done.
