BAHAWALPUR - The first-ever Marathon Race here in the City was held on Sunday which was largely attended by people of all age groups.

The race started from Baghdadul Jadid Railway Station and concluded at the Dring Stadium. The participants were divided into three major categories depending on age - under 30, between 30-50 and above 50. Muhammad Ayoub won under-30 race, Zafar Abbas won between 30-50 and Sajiullah Khan triumphed above-50 category.

Islamia University VC Dr Muhammad Mukhtar and Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Baleeghur Rehman were the chief guests on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the two-day Horse Riding Gala which was organised to mark the spring festivity concluded here at Garrison. At the closing ceremony Corps Commander Lt-Gen Muhammad Haroon Aslam distributed prizes among the winners. The two-day gala featured Horse and Camel dance, Bottle Lantern Race, Show Jumping, Tent Pegging, and Polo fixtures. Special events were also held for women and children.
