PESHAWAR/ LAKKI MARWAT/ KARAK - Jamaat-e-Islami, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Prof Ibrahim has criticised the government over what he called an ‘artificial’ price hike in the country.

He demanded of the rulers to bring back the looted money to the country. He was addressing a protest demonstration of the party against price hike at Saddam Chowk, Karak, on Sunday. The party workers led by district president of the party Maulana Tasleem Iqbal were holding party flags. They marched from Hira School to Saddam Chowk where they blocked the Karak-Bannu road for all kinds of traffic.

Addressing at the occasion, JI, KP, Chief Prof Ibrahim and Senior Vice President, district Karak, Maulana Samiur Rehman alleged that on the one hand the record price hike had broken the backbones of the masses and on the other hand Rs 260 million had been spent on the innovation of kitchen of the presidency. They further alleged that the wife of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani used to visit the United Kingdom to have luxurious trips. They observed that the corrupt rulers looted the public money and deposited it into the foreign bank accounts. The JI leaders stressed that the rulers should bring back the looted money from Switzerland, USA and UK banks. They claimed that the only resolution to the prevailing price hike, corruption, lawlessness and terrorism was the dissociation of Pakistan from the USA-led alliance in war on terror.

The speakers said that the USA forces deliberately desecrated the Holy Quran in Afghanistan, but he regretted, the rulers had not even reacted to the incident. The JI, KP, Chief Prof Ibrahim claimed that the days of rulers have been numbered. He warned the rulers that they should mend their ways otherwise they would have to face the wrath of masses. He stressed upon the masses to rise their voices against the corrupt rulers for bringing a change in the country. He urged them to extend support to Jamaat-e-Islami so that it could implement a justice-based system. After the protest, they opened the road for traffic.

Meanwhile, activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Peshawar city chapter, Sunday staged a protest demonstration against increase in the prices of petroleum products and the increasing lawlessness in the province.

Led by district general secretary Himdullah, the protest rally was staged in front of Peshawar Press Club. Holding banners and placards, the porters chanted full-throated slogans against the govt and denounced the repeated increase in the prices of petroleum products. Addressing on the occasion, district general secretary Himdullah said that the corrupt govts have made the lives of the common people miserable and they are now forcing the masses to come on roads. He said that one hand the growing corruption have looted the national exchequer while on the others hand the country facing severe energy crisis. He said that the government is not sincere to resolve the masses problems due to which the miseries of masses were increasing with each passing day and ultimately creating law and order situation in the province. He maintained that the masses have no confidence over the incumbent provincial and central govt and they would elect Jamaat-e-Islami in the next general election.

G Mursalin Marwat from Lakki Marwat adds: Jamaat-e-Islami, Lakki Marwat, on Sunday took out a protest rally in Naurang Town against price hike, loadshedding, lawlessness and desecration of Holy Quran by US forces in Afghanistan.

The rally led by JI district ameer Maulana Malik Meer Shah, started from the JI’s district office and after passing through the main grand trunk road culminated into a gathering near old railway crossing (Phattak). The protesters carried placards and party flags and they chanted full-throated slogans against the government and Uncle Sam. 

Speaking on the occasion Malik Meer Shah, Sher Ghulam, Muhammad Ishaq and others said that the inflation and joblessness broke the backbone of inflation-hit people. “The recent wave of price hike and increase in the prices of oil products, natural gas and electricity has added to the miseries of poor and middle class”, they maintained.  The JI leaders told that the prolong power outages had brought the business activities across the country to standstill besides causing closure of industrial units. They said that the frontline role in the so called US led war on terror had put the country on the path of lawlessness and that was why the lives and properties of law abiding and peace loving citizen were safe at all. 

They said that the rulers had failed to serve the masses and they had no right to remain power anymore.  They condemned the US and Nato forces for desecration of Holy Quran in Afghanistan and said that Muslims would protect the sanctity of the holy book till the last drop of blood in their bodies.
