KARACHI - At least nine people lost their lives and 10 others sustained injuries in different incidents of violence here on Monday.

25-year-old Sajid Khan, son of Shireen Khan, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Machhar Colony within the remit of Docks Police Station. The body was moved to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Police said the man was going home from his duty in Shinwari Hotel as waiter when the incident took place. He received one bullet and died on the spot. Police registered FIR 53/2013 under section 302 against unidentified accused.

Separately, two men bearing bullets and torture marks were found dead in Old Hajji Camp within the jurisdiction of Napier Police Station.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Akbar, son of Umar, and 32-year-old Zahid, son of Imamuddin.

The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for autopsy.

Police said both men were the owners of a tailor shop in Usmanabad, Garden area and used to go Lyari for collection of cloths. They said that the men also went to Lyari yesterday for some work but did not return back. On late Monday night, their bodies were found from Hajji Camp area.

Similarly, the body of a man bearing torture marks was found from Kagzi Bazaar, Kharadar, within the precinct of Kharadar Police Station. The victim was identified as Muhammad Amin, 55, son of Abdul Sattar. The body was brought to CHK for a postmortem.

Police said the victim died of severe torture as no bullet wound was found on his body.

Meanwhile, two men, aged around 20 to 25, were found dead in Jalbani Goth, Malir Town, within the limits of Khokharapar Police Station. The identity of both victims could not be ascertained yet. The bodies were moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Body of a man, aged around 35, was found from Rais Goth, Baldia Town, within the jurisdiction of Maripur Police Station.

The identity of man could not be ascertained. The body was brought to CHK for medico-legal formalities.   

Two people were killed and eight others injured in firing between two rival groups in Al-Asif Square area.

Rescue sources said 35-year-old Intikhab and 22-year-old Qamar Raza were killed, while eight others sustained bullets injuries identified as Izhar, Muhammad Kamran, Yawar Abbas, Samrina, Shakil, Waqar, Ozair Haider, Wajahat, reporter of private TV Channel Meraj Akhtar and Sajjad. However, four vehicles were also torched by enraged people.

Sources said, the violence erupted in Sohrab Goth Superhighway area when unidentified armed men resorted indiscriminate firing of a people returning after burial of victims of Abbas Town bomb blast.
