President Asif Ali Zardari has said it is our endeavor to remove the backwardness of Southern Punjab and for this funds are being enhanced.
He expressed these views while addressing the opening ceremony of Rashidabad Flyover in Multan on Tuesday.
He said that 95 per cent of developmental projects in Multan have been completed.
He said southern Punjab was deprived of its share of development in the past‚ but our government allocated record funds for its rapid development. He said it is our endeavour to remove the backwardness of Southern Punjab and for this funds are being enhanced.
Earlier former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani addressing the ceremony said the democratic Government of Pakistan Peoples Party the commitment made by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He said President Zardari released 1.5 billion rupees for the development of Multan which is a gift for the people.
He said work on a cancer hospital and a burn centre in Multan would start soon. He said work on Multan International Airport is complete and would soon be inaugurated. He said work would soon start on Faisalabad-Multan motorway would also be initiated soon.
This 5 hundred meter long flyover has been completed in 10 months at a cost of 1.47 billion rupees.
It would be the 8th flyover in Multan city facilitating the traffic flow between Multan and Lahore.
The President also opened project of a bridge on the river Ravi in Syedwala‚ District Nankana Sahib. The bridge which would be completed in one and a half year would connect Jaranwala with Okara.
This 3 kilometer long bridge would be completed at a cost of about one billion rupees.
