ISLAMABAD – Akhundzada Chitan, MNA from Bajaur Agency along with other PPP office-bearers from FATA, Monday called upon the Taliban to declare ceasefire in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) for smooth and peaceful elections.

“Peace is must in FATA for elections, and it is only possible through militants’ ceasefire and through negotiations,” Chitan said while addressing a press conference at the National Press Club.

He was of the view that peace negations now being planned between the government and TTP insurgents would be a long-term process; therefore, it is imperative that the insurgents announce ceasefire so that people of FATA could elect their representatives.

He was upbeat about prospects of several sitting MPs from FATA would contest elections on PPPP tickets.
