MULTAN - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry into Multan Institute of Cardiology (MIC) bogus recruitment case under PEDA Act and asked the inquiry officer to submit a report with his office within seven days.
Sources disclosed that the Chief Economist Planning and Development Board Capt (r) Muhammad Yousuf, who is a grade 21 officer, has been appointed as the inquiry officer.
The bogus recruitment case came to limelight when an admin officer of Cardiology Institute Hafiz Ehsanul Haq sent an application to the the Punjab Chief Secretary, complaining that Dr Waseem Abbas Zaidi made bogus recruitments against grade 1 to 5 posts in 2007 and deprived the deserving and eligible candidates of their due right. As a result of application, three separate inquiries took place against Dr Zaidi and all declared him guilty.
The final and high-level inquiry conducted by three officers of the Punjab Health Department suggested his termination on which he was suspended on September 21, 2010. Dr Zaidi was also served a charge sheet. Instead of launching further action, the health department has, however, appointed him as AMS (admin) of Nishtar Hospital.
Over 2000 Get Ownership Rights: The Punjab Government has handed over ownership rights to over 2000 poor and deserving citizens in Multan district. The documents were distributed by Punjab minister for Auqaf Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi, MNA Sheikh Tariq Rasheed and state officials.
Speaking on this occasion, Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi said that the opponents of PML-N raised mere slogans while the Punjab Government delivered to the masses. "Our projects like laptop, Ashiana, Jinnahabadi and Green Tractor schemes are biggest proof of our claim," he added. He said that the corruption committed by the federal government delivered severe losses to the country and jolted its foundations.
MNA Sheikh Tariq Rasheed said that the PML-N would launch more development and welfare projects after coming into power.
