SIALKOT - The IT laboratory at Government Girls High School Pura Heeran was gathering dust for the last six months due to unavailability of IT In-charge.

All the computers lied useless as the school management has locked the lab for the last six months.

The IT Lab was established two years ago with a cost of Rs2 million but the facility was rusting because IT teacher has gone on long leave, depriving the girl students of modern education.

As many as 500 girl students were studying at the school but no substitute teacher could be arranged for their computer education.

When contacted, acting School Head Mistress Najamul Nisa informed that post of the school headmistress had also been lying vacant for the last three months. She said that the IT lab had been locked for six months because Lab In-charge was on a long leave.

She said that the situation was repeatedly brought into the notice of the District Education Department officials but no IT teacher had yet been appointed.

Expressing grave concern over the situation, the students and their parents have urged Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Commissioner Abdul Jabbar Shaheen and DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal to ensure re-opening of IT lab and provision of Lab in-charge in the larger interest of the girl students.
