KHYBER AGENCY - The transporters under the auspices of Khyber Transporters Union staged a protest demonstration and observed hunger strike on Monday to compel the logistic company to pay dues of their trucks standing at different lots of the country for the last 16 months.

Dozens of protestors were holding placards in front of Landi Kotal Press Club. They were chanting slogans against the logistic company and urged the administration officials to play its due role for the settlement of the dispute. They were claiming rupees 4,000 per day as daily damages of their 102 trucks standing at the parking lots. They also set up a hunger strike camp on the occasion.

Addressing on the occasion, the Union leaders Shakir Afridi and Israr Shinwari said that rupees 4000 per day was due as per the promise made by the logistic company but for the last sixteen months 102 of their vehicles were parked without any payment.

He said that meetings were held in Karachi with the logistic company officials and they agreed to pay their dues but later they never returned to their promises, he added.

They threatened that if their damages Rs seven million were not paid in near future, they will stop all supply vehicles of the company in Khyber Pass.
