The Customs Intelligence officials foiled a bid to smuggle heroin to England from Sialkot and seized several small sized packets of heroin secretly kept in cloths, during checking at foreign customs office at Sialkot General Post Office.

Accused M Akram Sharif, a resident of Khadim Ali Road Sialkot, booked a parcel for England from Sialkot. Customs Officials Syed Khalid Javaid Shah, Akmal Hussain Shah and Syed Arshad Kamal checked the parcel and detected several small sized heroin packets hidden in the women’s clothes.

Customs officials have registered a case against accused Muhamamd Akram Sharif and started raiding various places to ensure early arrest of the accused.

THEFT: Naikapura police have registered a case against some unknown accused for stealing mobile phones, cash and other valuables worth Rs1 million from a mobile shop of a local trader Muhamamd Bashir located near Pull Aik Naikapura.

Accused dug several meters long tunnel to reach the main sewerage pipe line which passes through the burgled shop. The accused entered into the main sewerage pipeline through tunnel, they broke into the floor of the shop and fled away after stealing.

TRAINING: Traffic police and Rescue 1122 started training of 1,501 drivers who got the vehicles under Punjab Chief Minister’s Rozgar Scheme.

DSP Waseem Akhtar told newsmen that these drivers belonged to Sialkot district, and that senior officials were imaparting to them training about traffic rules, road safety, driving theory and medical aid. The training sessions were being held at Police Lines Sialkot on daily basis, which will continue for one week there, he added.

EXHIBITION: An exhibition of calligraphy, dresses, decoration pieces and other household articles was opened at Jinnah Hall in connection with International Women Day.

On the occasion, speakers said that skilled women can play a vital role in the economic development of a country and well being of their families. She said that the present government was taking an all-out effort for women’s empowerment and providing opportunities for them to improve their families’ financial condition.
