Islamabad - City District Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Chandio on Wednesday conducted a special raid on a famous bakery, a sweets shop and a restaurant here at Blue Area and fined them Rs 80,000 on unhygienic food items and uncleanliness.

According to the details available with The Nation, most famous chain of bakery in twin cities ‘Tehzeeb Bakers’ were found producing unhealthy eatables and the standard of cleanliness was not up to the mark. The photographs exclusively available with The Nation can portray the dirty picture of the kitchen. City Magistrate fined Rs 30,000 and warned the owner to improve the cleanliness and environment of kitchen. He also warned the bakers present there to wear proper caps to avoid hair in eatables. He noticed that ingredients were not mentioned on the outer packing cover of the things.

In another raid, Ghulam Murtaza Chandio imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on Fresco Sweets of Blue Area and found their kitchen dirty and below to the standard. The city magistrate also warned the owner to improve the conditions to avoid the extreme step of sealing the shop.

During the third raid, the city magistrate went to the famous Lasania Restaurant of Blue Area and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 after finding unhealthy food items. He also took the samples for the laboratory test.

The local citizens of the capital have welcomed the action of the local administration with apprehensions if such was the bad cleanliness conditions of famous food chains in the city then what would be conditions of the common food outlets. Previously, the district magistrate had fined famous restaurants Chaye Khana finding its kitchen in bad conditions.
