TEHRAN - Iran is demanding the extradition of a suspected Iranian militant arrested in Pakistan. Wednesday’s report by Fars news agency quotes Gen Masoud Rezvani as saying that Tehran is asking Islamabad to hand over Abdulsattar Rigi, arrested over the weekend. Rezvani says Iran has handed Interpol the request for Abdulsattar, a cousin of Abdulmalik Rigi. Abdulmalik was the leader of a Sunni militant group known as Jundullah which operates in southeastern Iran and has ties to the Baloch ethnic minority in neighbouring Pakistan.

Abdulmalik was arrested and executed by Iran in early 2011.
