Rawalpindi - Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has begun action against transporters who are charging extra fare from passengers despite issuance of revised fare list after cut in oil prices. In this regard, special squads of RTA, formed by Secretary RTA Awais Manzoor Tarar, impounded 21 vehicles plying on urban routes for fleecing passengers, informed an RTA official yesterday.

According to him, the secretary RTA taking action on public complaints tasked the special squads to catch the public transport vehicles drivers of those charging high fares against the revised fare list issued by RTA. During action, a total of 21 vehicles have been impounded at Office of RTA, he said. Secretary RTA Awais Manzoor Tarar, when contacted, said that action was being taken against the transporters who were involved in robbing the passengers off by getting extra fare. He added that 21 vehicles were impounded by RTA on account of violating fare list.
