LAHORE - Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Nizam-ud-din presided over the second convocation of Government College Township yesterday. He awarded degrees and medals to the successful students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nizam-ud-din said education without practice is useless as only getting degrees is not sufficient but reducing the learning into practice is essential.

He lamented that the well educated people were jobless and called upon the students, parents and the teachers to chose such education courses which are productive for the students and useful for the society.

He supported skilled development programmes at the national level to ensure jobs to the youth.

Principal of the College Dr Ijaz Butt in his address said his college was serving well to wet the quest for knowledge among the students. He said in the current era, knowledge and economy are closely integrated and the situation demands that scope of economic-knowledge and market should be widened to their mutual benefit. He advised the students to prepare themselves for practical life. As many 491 male and female students were awarded degrees of them 18 were given gold medals and 50 roll-of-honours.

MNA Waheed Alam and Chairman College Council Syed Masood Shah among a large number of participants including parents of the students, witnessed the ceremony. Prof Tauseef Akbar and Prof Muhammad Luqman were specially awarded for best performance as teacher. Dr Nizam-ud-din was presented souvenir of the Colege.
