Tajik Ambassador in Pakistan Sherali S Jononov pledged to make efforts to ensure import of Sialkot-based sports goods and surgical instruments from Pakistan instead of purchasing the same from European countries on higher prices.

He made the assurance while talking to the Sialkot exporters during a meeting held at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). He stressed a need for promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Tajikistan. He invited the Sialkot exporters to divert their business activities to Tajikistan besides participating the international trade and industrial exhibitions being held in Tajikistan soon.

“We are rich in hydropower and we are going to export hydel energy to Pakistan in order to meet the growing demands,” he added. He said that Pak-Afghan-Tajik trade delegations would boost trade of the countries. Mr Sherali S Jononov also assured the easy access of Sialkot exporters to international trade markets of Tajikistan and other Central Asian states. SCCI President Mansur Ahmed, SVP Muhammad Sarfraz Butt, former SCCI President Fazal Jillani and others also attended the meeting. Mansur said that Pakistan could be a gateway for the Central Asia for trade and commerce. Similarly, he said Central Asian states including Tajikistan could be a very strong market for Pakistan presenting immense opportunities to boost trade. He said that regular exchange of trade delegations, developed contacts between the chambers of commerce and Industry of Pakistan and Tajikistan and holding of the joint trade exhibitions would help promote bilateral trade between Pakistan and Tajikistan.

Sarfraz Butt said Pakistan and Tajikistan need to build cooperation to improve trade ties. He said that both the sides are sincere and determined to improve relations in all fields that hopefully would lead the relationships towards growth, progress and prosperity in the two countries.
