islamabad - A writ petition has been moved in the Islamabad High Court praying the court that the cost of advertisement campaign of Azan Shaheed Montessori School Islamabad may be recovered from Prime Minister of Pakistan and airing of the same campaign may be stopped.

A petitioner Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, a political activist, adopted in the petition that it was told to the public that the prime minister himself bore the cost of an electronic advertisement campaign of the school. But the petitioner claimed that it was a blatant lie and the cost was paid through public exchequer.

Therefore, he requested the court that the cost of advertisement campaign may be recovered from the prime minister of Pakistan and airing of the same campaign may be stopped.

The petitioner moved the court through his counsel Syed Zaheer Hassan Shah Advocate and cited secretary cabinet division, finance division, secretary ministry of information and broadcasting, and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) through its chairman and Accountant General of Pakistan as respondents. He contended that he came across an advertisement campaign of Azan Shaheed Montessori School that was being on-air on electronic media.

It was being told that the prime minister himself paid for this advertisement campaign while when he dug out the matter it was revealed that the amount was paid through national exchequer.

He continued that the national exchequer is meant for the welfare purposes of the general public and not for image building of the political leaders. The petitioner prayed to the court to direct the respondents to brief the court about the amount spent on this ad-campaign and they may also be directed not to release any funds in future for such purposes. He further requested that the airing of this advertisement may be stopped and the amount may be recovered from the prime minister.
